Arrick Maurice – Monster 1100 R
This build comes from Ducati’s North American Market, Brand Manager – Arrick Maurice, as his non-eligible entry for the 2011 Monster Challenge. A little over two years ago Arrick Maurice was living in NY with a career in Art Direction. That path changed with an opportunity to join Ducati North America as its North American Market – Brand Manager, so like any other avid italian motorcycle enthusiast he jumped at this opportunity. For 2011, Ducati North America launched the Monster Challenge for Ducati Monster owners/builders to showcase their customized monsters. As Arrick puts it, he just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to roll up his sleeves and join in on the fun. Ultimately what started off as a short list of modifications quickly spun out of control, in a good way, with an extensive list of mods and parts.
This is what your build can look like, when you have quick unlimited access to parts, funds are not an issue and good taste comes naturally due to your previous work experience as an Art Director. The canvas of this build was Arrick’s own 2009 Ducati Monster 1100 S, which was acquired soon after joining Ducati. The bike was taken apart to install the RAM Italia magnesium swing arm, carbon fiber subframe, and the other various carbon fiber, magnesium and aluminum parts. After the build was completed the bike weighed in at 167kg wet, as opposed to a wet weight of 178kg for a stock 2009 Ducati Monster 1100 S. I will let the pictures speak for the quality of the build and the extensive list of modifications will offer the details of this build.
