This 2010 build is an absolutely gorgeous cafe racer by the world-famous RADical Ducati from Madrid, Spain. Pepo Rosell and Reyes Ramon are at it again with this tribute to the classic 750SS Imola, Ducati’s notorious 1970s sport bike. The 750SS Imola was the bike that carried Paul Smart and Bruno Spaggiari to victory in the 200-mile race at Imola in 1972. The RAD02 Imola is one of best examples of the quality work that this Spanish shop produces on a regular basis. The RAD02 Imola was built for track use, however it can be road legal with a few tweaks and a couple of homologated parts.
The build started with RADdical Ducati’s own replica trellis chromoly frame and a S2R swing arm that were powder coated electric blue. The engine is a tuned 900 SS IE unit, with racing cams and polished intake/exhaust ports. The wiring harness was sourced from a Monster 900 IE and it leads to and from an EVR programmable control unit. The engine breathes in through K&N open element filters and breathes out through Wolfman headers and Sparks megaphones. The Rizoma carbon fiber open clutch cover, the gold Rizoma pressure plate, the gold cylinder head accents and the black painted engine covers bring out the attention to detail on this build.
At the front, stopping power comes via Discacciati rotors and calipers. The gold Marchesini S4RS wheels are wrapped in Pirelli Rosso Corsa tires. The front mud guard is a RAD carbon fiber unit and the front suspension is a modified upside-down 43mm Showa front fork with low friction TiN treatment, sourced from the 749S Testastretta. The controls are attached to a set of RAD’s own billet clipons. The forks are secured with RAD’s billet triple clamps that offer an adjustable steering angle. The headlight is a V-Rod unit that is just at home on this build. The instruments were supplied by Aviacompositi in the form of an EVO2 unit. The gas tank and seat are RADical Ducati’s famous RAD02 fiberglass units.
At the rear the choice for the rearsets was for a set of Rizoma units. The billet S2R rear suspension rocker was polished/lightened and the billet tie rod that offers the height adjustment is a billet RAD MV Agusta style unit. The rear caliper mounting plate is a billet unit and the rear billet sprocket carrier allows for easy and change without having to take the wheel off, both pieces are RAD’s own design. Discacciati wave rotor and calipers offer the much-needed stopping power for this beast. The shortened rear carbon fiber mud guard is also RAD’s own unit. The rear subframe is the famous RAD02 aluminum unit and is the perfect mounting point for the fiberglass cafe racer style seat.
